So, I wanted to do a little experiment where I document my entire work day to see how much I’m actually working, and to see where my time went. I randomly chose yesterday because I woke up feeling productive – which is surprising because I was hung over from pain meds, AND it was such a dreary/dark morning, but something in me wanted to get right to it, and of course I obliged.
I tried to take a few iPhone pics along the way, because every good documentarian needs to provide visual evidence, right?!
8:30 // wake up, brush teeth & make bed
9:00 // make coffee
9:05 // vacuum (odd decision, BUT, the house was a wreck thanks to us being in recovery mode, and I can’t really be productive when it’s dirty)
9:20 // text Haley to see if she wants to come over for a work date
9:30 // clean up odds and ends, and shower
10:00 // answer emails
10:30 // reply to lingering facebook comments and tweets
10:45 // finally get around to some editing (the Montana engagement session)
10:50 // stop to blog a quick “photobomb” – my main motivation for doing this was to test out Pressgram, and app that allows you to post pics to your wordpress blog easily and efficiently. If you’re a wordpress user and you’ve ever taken a pic with your iPhone and said “man, I wish I could just blog this really quick” then this app is for you my friend.
11:00 // Haley comes over and we catch up for about an hour (both just got back from extensive west coast trips)
12:15 // get back to editing the e-session
12:45 // select blog favorites, export for blog and export finals for delivery
1:15 // snack break/browse break
1:40 // prep blog post
2:00 // posted blog post (THIS) —> tweeted, facebooked, instagrammed —> responded to people’s comments
2:30 // spent some time confirming arrangements for our next wedding (destination: Portland – YAY Caitlin & Alex!)
3:30 // Haley leaves.
3:35 // called police station. what – what?! haha. Michael and I were in a car accident on Saturday and our car was totaled (hence the “recovery mode”, hence the pain meds) – trying to figure all this ish out. of course the police station was zero help.
3:45 // watched an episode of the Framed Network: film season one, episode 2 – “seeing light” (in case that needs more explanation, the ep was about seeing the various types of natural light which is something I’d like to get better at)
4:35 // spent some time on a wedding edit
5:35 // closed up shop and started dinner
Total work time (time spent on Paige Jones Photography) = 4.75 hrs. Room for improvement? Um, yeah.
Mmk, gonna go get some editing done! If you read through this entire post, I sincerely thank you for giving me that much of your time. I promise most of my posts are more entertaining (i.e. more photos).
