Cameron + Fabio | Downtown Atlanta Engagement

Most of the time I’m shooting couples in a field, or somewhere in the country. And I love it. You can’t beat wide open spaces like that (Dixie Chicks anyone?!).

However, when I get to walk around a city with a client, there’s just something magnetic about it all. The noises, the tall buildings, the weird smells…and the light. I was so excited to hear that Cameron and Fabio wanted a more urban setting for their shoot – given that they live in NYC, that makes sense  :-)

I loooooved walked around downtown Atlanta with these two. I literally just sat back and watched them giggle, cuddle, belly laugh, kiss, and pose themselves perfectly without any instructions. It was pretty awesome.

Can’t wait to shoot their 2014 Georgian Terrace wedding! Enjoy a few of my faves…

Brooke + Aaron | The Wedding we never made it to

Being in a car accident sucks. Especially if you were injured…especially if your car was totaled…especially if they whiz you away in an ambulance…

especially if it made you miss a wedding.

When I reflect back on the accident, nothing upsets me more than knowing that I couldn’t be there to capture Brooke + Aaron’s wedding. It’s a wedding photographers worst nightmare. My only solace comes from knowing that my good, incredibly sweet friend & fellow photographer, Morgan, was there to save the day. Seriously. I can’t thank her enough. I will be forever grateful for her willingness/selflessness to rush to my client’s wedding and photograph it so beautifully. How can I ever repay her???

Furthermore, I am forever grateful for my bride, Brooke, and her incredibly sweet, concerned, calm, & caring reaction to my phone call. She was already having to deal with buckets of rain on her wedding day..but then to receive a call from her photographer, saying they couldn’t make it?? Man, I’m seriously amazed at how calm and sweet she was on the phone. It literally makes me tear up as I write this. Thank you SO much Brooke. You somehow managed to calm ME down, and I am so thankful for that.

Ok, enough of this sob-fest. Let’s get to the photos! Morgan captured their day so beautifully, and of COURSE I want to share a few. All photos captured by her, and edited by yours truly. Happy Friday!

A Day in the Life

So, I wanted to do a little experiment where I document my entire work day to see how much I’m actually working, and to see where my time went. I randomly chose yesterday because I woke up feeling productive – which is surprising because I was hung over from pain meds, AND it was such a dreary/dark morning, but something in me wanted to get right to it, and of course I obliged.

I tried to take a few iPhone pics along the way, because every good documentarian needs to provide visual evidence, right?!

Here goes…

8:30 // wake up, brush teeth & make bed

9:00 // make coffee

vsco

9:05 // vacuum (odd decision, BUT, the house was a wreck thanks to us being in recovery mode, and I can’t really be productive when it’s dirty)

9:20 // text Haley to see if she wants to come over for a work date

9:30 // clean up odds and ends, and shower

10:00 // answer emails

10:30 // reply to lingering facebook comments and tweets

10:45 // finally get around to some editing (the Montana engagement session)

10:50 // stop to blog a quick “photobomb” – my main motivation for doing this was to test out Pressgram, and app that allows you to post pics to your wordpress blog easily and efficiently. If you’re a wordpress user and you’ve ever taken a pic with your iPhone and said “man, I wish I could just blog this really quick” then this app is for you my friend.

11:00 // Haley comes over and we catch up for about an hour (both just got back from extensive west coast trips)

12:15 // get back to editing the e-session

12:45 // select blog favorites, export for blog and export finals for delivery

1:15 // snack break/browse break

photo 5 (3)

1:40 // prep blog post

2:00 // posted blog post (THIS) —> tweeted, facebooked, instagrammed —> responded to people’s comments

2:30 // spent some time confirming arrangements for our next wedding (destination: Portland – YAY Caitlin & Alex!)

3:30 // Haley leaves.

3:35 // called police station. what – what?! haha. Michael and I were in a car accident on Saturday and our car was totaled (hence the “recovery mode”, hence the pain meds) – trying to figure all this ish out. of course the police station was zero help.

3:45 // watched an episode of the Framed Network: film season one, episode 2 – “seeing light” (in case that needs more explanation, the ep was about seeing the various types of natural light which is something I’d like to get better at)

photo 2 (10)

4:35 // spent some time on a wedding edit

5:35 // closed up shop and started dinner

Total work time (time spent on Paige Jones Photography) = 4.75 hrs. Room for improvement? Um, yeah.

Mmk, gonna go get some editing done! If you read through this entire post, I sincerely thank you for giving me that much of your time. I promise most of my posts are more entertaining (i.e. more photos).

Melissa + Fritz | Montana Engagement Session

If you keep up with my blog, then you know Michael and I just got back from a 17 day workcation which ended with us photographing Melissa and Fritz’s Montana engagement session, rehearsal dinner, and beautiful wedding.

Montana was – needlesstosay – stunning.

Big sky country. FACT.

We had fun scouting for their e-session, and even more fun shooting it. Here are some of my faves, and stay tuned for their wedding post in the next week or so!
