Summer Bucket List

So, in light of the holiday weekend, and continuing on with the Summery theme from my last post, I thought I’d share a few things on my summer bucket list. I saw another photographer share hers, and I thought I’d join in on the fun  :-)

But first, a pretty photo that makes me long for an adventure. (Photo: Cannon Beach, Oregon)

MY SUMMER BUCKET LIST

1. Swim in a pooooooool (more than once).

I don’t remember the last time I took a dip in a pool and thankfully, Atlanta’s hot summers provide the perfect stage for lazy pool days. I just bought a cute new bathing suit too – woo hoo! Would you believe me if I told you that it had been 6 years since I bought a bathing suit?? Well believe it, because I’m not kidding. I mean, I like to think that my old suits were “timeless” buuuuut that’s a LONG TIME.

2. Visit Charleston.

Now that we’re back in the south, I’m dyyyying to go to Charleston again. I’ve only been once (family vacay in Isle of Palms about 6 years ago) but that ONE day riding bikes around the battery and eating delicious southern/cajun food, made me want to live there. Fun fact: that trip was the first time photography excited me. I had my ooooold canon rebel that I bought freshman year of college and while my dad and brother took a tour of Fort Sumter, my mom and I rented beach bikes, and rode around looking at the gorgeous houses and gardens, and I would stop and take pictures of hibiscus plants, and elaborate wrought iron gates. It was magical. And I want to go back and do it again.

3. Celebrate our 3 year anniversary!

Yep. July 3rd marks the big t-h-r-e-e. Does that mean I get diamonds?! No? Okay, maybe we’ll just go on a trip somewhere…I’m fine with that. Hmm…that’s a whole other list right there  😉

4. Shoot more personal work.

I have some fun ideas swirling around in my head, and if I don’t get them out into the world I might explode. So, here’s to getting organized and focused for the summer!

5. Enjoy our back deck more (aka BBQ anyone?).

We spent some grueling hours on craigslist finding the perfect-yet-gently-used deck furniture, AND Michael stapled 3 strands of bistro lights around the whole deck, soooo I guess we need to get out there and enjoy it. I’m thinking: taco night, burgers & dogs night, BBQ night, and maybe another taco night?

6. Plan a fabulous week in Montana (already on the books!).

We have a wedding in Montana this year and we want to make a vacation out of it…because how many times do you have a wedding in Montana? We’re thinking we might take a whole week and just go exploring. Maaaaybe rent a car and spend one night in Yellowstone…ahhhh!!! Lots to think about and see and plan.

7. Get to know Atlanta/Georgia.

In the past three years we’ve lived in 4 different states, one of which was on the other side of the country. Even though we haven’t lived anywhere for more than a year, we do a pretty good job of getting out and familiarizing ourselves with each area…it helps that we love to explore and take photos. I might eat my words here, but I *think* Atlanta might be home for the foreseeable future, so I’d love to really dive in and get to know the city and the surrounding area. So, if you’re up for a photo adventure, just let me know and we’ll go explore!

8. Summer Bonfires!

There’s something magical about a summer bonfire, and it’s even more fabulous when it’s on the beach. One thing I loved about the west coast is it’s basically “anything goes” when it comes to the beach. Open containers, fires, dogs, cars…basically whatever you want to take on the beach, you can. The east coast…not so much. But, I know there are a few beaches that allow fires, so here’s hoping I can excite Michael about this idea. Any Georgians reading who can recommend a coastal area that allows fires?

Anyway…that’s everything I have on my list so far, but I had so much fun creating it I might just keep adding to it. What’s on your summer bucket list? You should join in on the fun…and when you post yours, let me know – I’d love to read it.
